It’s hard to believe, but the six-year wait is almost over for Pandora – The World of Avatar, which is going to welcome its first guests in just a few weeks on May 27, 2017. Obviously, excitement is quite high for this new land as we get closer to its official debut, and if you want to be among the first to ride Avatar – Flight of Passage, cruise down the Na’Vi River Journey, and grab a bite to eat at the Satu'li Canteen, here’s everything you need to know.

1. If you are staying on property, make your FastPass+ reservations NOW

FastPass+ reservations are now available for both the attractions at Pandora - The World of Avatar: Na’vi River Journey and Avatar – Flight of Passage. However, both of these attractions are being treated as “tier one”, which means that guests can only book a FastPass+ reservation for just one of these attractions.

This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering demand will be high for these two attractions in this new area’s early days and Disney probably wants to spread these initial FastPass+ reservations out as much as possible. If you're stuck between which attraction to make a FastPass+ reservation for, based on what we know about these two rides, we’d say the priority should probably be Avatar – Flight of Passage, as demand will surely be higher for this new land's E-Ticket thrill ride than for the slow-moving Na’vi River Journey. And because the latter is a continuous boat ride, it may have higher guest throughput as well, hopefully making the line less intense as well.

And though FastPass+ may be your best bet on opening day to experience the attractions of Pandora – The World of Avatar, one group may get the chance to get a sneak peek in early…

2. Annual passholder previews are happening in May

One of the perks of being a Walt Disney World annual passholder is the ability to get an advance look at some of the resort’s newest attractions. Though it doesn’t always happen (we’re looking at you, Frozen Ever After), it is strongly rumored that annual passholders will indeed have the opportunity in the very near future to sign up for special previews of this area, where they will have the chance to go on both of the new rides, experience some of the local cuisine, and interact with some “in character” Cast Members.

Registration for two hour time slots for annual passholders is now available for 10 days next month between May 13th and May 22nd, 2017. You can register here now.
