This week at Walt Disney World, Epcot kicks off its newest festival, a new upcharge experience is announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios, plus a controversial upcharge is discontinued after only a few weeks at the Magic Kingdom.

Outside Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort announces the full concert line-up for 2017's Mardi Gras event, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon gets an official opening date, plus a brand new expansion opens at LEGOLAND Florida!

1. The Epcot International Festival of the Arts kicks off

This week kicked off the all-new Epcot International Festival of the Arts, which brings food, world-renowned artists, and Broadway talent to the park for the next six weeks. We visited Epcot on the first day of this new festival, and while it’s still too early to judge the entire festival just yet, what we saw from its inaugural day was quite encouraging.

2. Magic Kingdom cabanas to be removed next month

Late last year, Disney debuted Kingdom Cabanas, a new amenity that allowed guests to enjoy a private tent inside Tomorrowland that came with a number of amenities including device charging stations, snacks, and even a small refrigerator for a cost of $691 per group. Unfortunately, this didn't really prove to be a popular option, and last week Disney reduced the fee to rent these tents down to a discounted to $499 per day between January 17th and February 17th, 2017. However, it looks like this upcharge still hasn't connected with guests, and Disney has decided to discontinue this offering after this date.

3. New name and concept art revealed for Typhoon Lagoon's upcoming attraction

Disney has confirmed that the new Typhoon Lagoon attraction planned for March 2017 has been renamed "Miss Adventure Falls" (it was previously called "Miss Fortune Falls") and has released the new concept art above for this new family-raft attraction. Interestingly it has also been confirmed that this upcoming attraction will be able to check out an Audio-Animatronic parrot who’s still hunting for treasures at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon to this day!

Dear Disney, STOP UPCHARGING EVERYTHING! it already cost more money then the average american can afford for a week there. ( being that I am on disability I can never dream of affording it) I myself can barely afford a day ticket. For all the exorbetant prices you charge just to get in, all those up charge events should be free. including those cabanas you are discontinuing in MK.
