4 Confirmed Character Changes Coming to Walt Disney World

Character meet and greets are a big part of what makes a trip to Walt Disney World so special, and in recent months Disney has taken it upon themselves to make a number of improvements and changes to their character lineup. While not all of these changes have been popular with guests, Disney is constantly making adjustments to try and make their character offerings as diverse as possible while still keeping things running efficiently around the parks.

This month brings even more big changes to Walt Disney World's character lineup as Disney's Hollywood Studios finally opens two long-awaited new character experiences, plus the Magic Kingdom announces a brand new character coming this summer to the park. Looking past this summer, a new show is announced for this year's edition of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that will bring some fresh new Characters to the stage.

1. Olaf begins meeting guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios' Character Spotlight

Earlier this week Disney's Hollywood Studios opened the Celebrity Spotlight character meet and greet location, which will feature a rotating cast of characters throughout the year. In celebration of the beginning of summer in just a few weeks, this location is kicking things off in the coolest way possible, with Olaf from Frozen. Guests will be able to check out this character's beachfront retreat in this new character meet and greet, and can even get an autograph from this Frozen favorite before snapping a few photos and of course getting a warm hug.

As this new meet and greet space is designed to feature new characters periodically, guests who want to see Olaf should aim to plan a visit sometime in the next few months, as we'd wager once summer ends this character will melt away to make way for something new at the Character Spotlight. Currently FastPass+ reservations are not available for this new experience, but that may change in the coming weeks.

2. Mickey and Minnie on the move at Disney's Hollywood Studios

After months of moving around Disney's Hollywood Studios, Mickey and Minnie Mouse are finally getting their own, dedicated meet and greet space at this park, which will officially see its grand opening this weekend. Guests who head over to this new character experience, which is located off Commissary Lane near the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, will be greeted with a bright red carpet before heading in to the actual character experience.

As guests head inside, they'll be able to meet Minnie Mouse first, who will be sporting a classic look for this character experience, dressed like a Hollywood starlet with her own dazzling cityscape background.

From there, guests will then be able to go meet Mickey Mouse in his iconic Sorcerer’s Apprentice costume in front of a Fantasia-inspired background that resembles the castle that appears onscreen in this iconic film.

Like the Character Spotlight, FastPass+ reservations are currently not available for this character experience. Though Mickey and Minnie haven't been as popular at Disney's Hollywood Studios as they are at other parks (all of which offer FastPass+ reservations to meet Mickey), hopefully now that this duo have a "home base" at this park they'll see more guest traffic and FastPass+ reservations will be offered soon!

I do not agree with the new D.Jr. princess beimg in MK. She should be in HS considering shes not a traditional princess in Disney canon.

I get the cross promotion, but it should have been Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.
