5 All-New Things Guests Can Do This Holiday Season at Walt Disney World

One thing that makes the holidays such a popular time for guests to visit Walt Disney World is the favorite and returning events that happen every year at the resort. From Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the Jingle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom to Holidays Around the World featuring the Candlelight Processional at Epcot and even the Osborn Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there are plenty of favorite holiday events returning to the resort in 2015.

However, though there is more than enough familiar holiday cheer to go around at Walt Disney World, 2015 does bring some new events to the resort for guests to check out, including one that might give fans of Disney's Hollywood Studios a little bit of déjà vu....

1. Holidays Happen Here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Just announced yesterday, Holidays Happen Here will be yet another new character dance party at Disney's Hollywood Studios that will take place at Center Stage, right in front of the Great Movie Ride. This new entertainment offering will feature plenty of up-tempo holiday tunes mixed in with Disney favorites by a live DJ. This newest dance party will keep guests on their feet from 5PM to closing from December 1st until the 31st.  Characters that will appear at this dance party have yet to be announced, but based on former dance parties in this area, we’d wager that Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy will be likely characters for this party, and perhaps even a few Disney Junior characters like Doc McStuffins or Sofia the First could possibly stop by as well.

Interestingly, this is the second dance party announced for the holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Club Disney will also be opening in just a few days at the brand new Sunset Showcase theater. Though this indoor dance party is not specifically tied to the holidays, it is nonetheless expected to be a seasonal offering (and will be replaced on selected dates next year by the Club Villain upcharge event) and should help manage crowds at Disney’s Hollywood Studios over the busy holiday season while this park is dealing with reduced attractions as a result of its preparations to bring Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land to life.

Though it seems a little repetitive, it looks like this holiday season will at least be full of dancing and characters at Disney’s, which is great news for those who love to get their groove on at Walt Disney World. However, we can't help but wonder what the benefit of having two nearly-identical attractions at the front of this park will be. Dance parties have never really drummed up much demand at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and halving what will already likely be a very thin crowd seems a little counter-intuitive.

2. American Music Machine at Epcot

This year’s Holidays Around the World lineup is essentially identical to last year’s, with perennial favorites like La Befana in Italy, Sigrid and Julenissen in Norway and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus in America showing up to help ring in the holidays around the World Showcase. However, over in Future World there will be at least one new addition. Though guests will again enjoy seeing Joyful! A Gospel Celebration of the Season over at the Fountain Stage, this group will share the stage with the American Music Machine, which has been performing at the American pavilion over the past few months.

Guests will be able to see this five person a cappella group perform some of the holiday's most beloved songs in their own unique style every day at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. Guests wanting to see Joyful! A Gospel Celebration, will now need to head over in between sets, at 1:25pm, 2:25pm, 3:25pm and 4:25pm.
