The 5 ESSENTIAL News Updates for Theme Park Fans This Month (January 2015)

3. SeaWorld San Diego discontinues Madagascar show

Though SeaWorld Orlando has been the subject of several cost-cutting measures (including the removal of the mimes and the closing of the A’Lure: Call of the Ocean show), SeaWorld San Diego has also seen a rather large cut as Screamscape reports that the Madagascar Live! show was discontinued last month, and all staff associated with the show laid off. No replacement for the show has been announced.

4. The Orlando Eye completes construction on outer ring

The Orlando Eye passed a big milestone several days ago when construction on its outer ring was finally completed. However, though this new landmark’s profile is now finished, electrical work as well as capsule installation is yet to be done before this new attraction, as well as felllow I-Drive 360 tenants SEA LIFE Orlando and Madame Tussauds, open later this year.

5. Cedar Point opening Quaker Steak & Lube at Hotel Breakers

Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point is currently undergoing a massive refurbishment in order to get ready for the 2015 season, and it looks like when this hotel opens its doors again in May it will have a new dining option.  The park announced a few days ago that restaurant chain Quaker Steak & Lube (known for its hot wings and automotive theming) will be replacing TGI Friday’s at the hotel and will be open in time for the season opening later this spring at Cedar Point.
