This week’s central Florida parks update includes a pair of updates from SeaWorld Orlando (including the announcement of a brand new show), the return of a holiday favorite treat at Universal Orlando Resort, a new animal at Busch Gardens Tampa and more!
Scheduling note: though our last central Florida park update was published this past Monday, we are moving this weekly feature to Saturdays, which resulted in the earlier than usual update this week.
1. SeaWorld Orlando announces new show
SeaWorld finally announced the replacement for Clyde and Seamore take Pirate Island this week and as expected, it has a high school theme. The new show, entitled Clyde and Seamore's Sea Lion High, will feature the titular sea lions as well as the Walrus and sea otter that have been featured in other shows. The storyline will follow Clyde and Seamore as they try and complete all their high school classes on the last day of school in time to get their diploma. The storyline is predictably absurd, but should make for plenty of laugh out loud moments. The show is currently in rehearsal and is expected to open in spring 2015.
2. Warm Butterbeer returns to Universal Orlando
Though Walt Disney World has some well-known seasonal indulgences, Universal Orlando is getting in on the limited time treat business as well, bringing back the legendary warm Butterbeer beverage for another winter season. Though you can always get Butterbeer in flat, frozen or ice cream form, Universal has begun offering this beverage in a slightly richer, warmed up form. The result recalls the flavor of regular Butterbeer but has the smoothness of a latte. This seasonal version of Butterbeer can be found at Diagon Alley locations like the Leaky Cauldron, The Hopping Pot or The Fountain of Fair Fortune. If you’re going to be at Hogsmeade, warm Butterbeer can also be found at the Three Broomsticks as well as the Hog’s Head Pub.
