Nightmare Before Christmas

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns this weekend to the Magic Kingdom. The park is already all decked out for this holiday event, and guests will be able to enjoy the Christmas-themed festivities, including the Once Upon a Christmastime parade and several special Christmas-themed character meet and greets.

This year’s event features several new elements, including new dance parties, an intriguing new meet and greet option, and a few new “Frozen” components as well. Let's take a look at what's changed.

1. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade gets new characters including Frozen favorites

Frozen Christmas

The annual Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade returns this year with its usual cavalcade of Disney characters, snowmen, reindeer, elves, and of course, Santa Claus. Joining the lineup this year are Wreck-It Ralph, Vanellope and a cluster of Frozen characters including Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and various visitors from the kingdom of Arendelle.

Though we haven’t seen the parade yet, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Frozen processional isn’t reminiscent of the Arendelle welcome parade we saw this past summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

2. Brand new dance parties debut in Tomorrowland and Frontierland

Phineas and Ferb

Disney has announced two dance parties for this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party event. The first will be a “Holiday Hootenanny!” taking place at the  Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland. This country-themed party will feature appearances by classic characters including the Country Bears, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, and Clara Cluck.

If you’re looking for a less country feel, a second party is being held over at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrowland. This restaurant will be transformed for the evening into Club Tinsel and feature appearances by Disney Channel staples Phineas and Ferb. This party seems like it will be targeted towards younger fans and will have plenty of upbeat music and activities inspired by the show.

3. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom gets Frozen

Elsa Card

Just like with last year’s event, fans of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card game will get an event-exclusive card. This year’s card features Elsa using her ice powers. As with other events, cards will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis, with a single card per wristband policy. Cast Members will be marking wristbands as cards are handed out to ensure that all guests have an opportunity to get an Elsa Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card.
