Universal continued its gradual roll out of information regarding this year’s Halloween Horror Nights with new information about its scarezones, courtesy of the event’s official Twitter account.

Though no new houses for the Orlando event were announced, we did get some information about this year’s scare zones. And so far, the news looks fairly promising, especially for those who were a little let down by last year’s single Walking Dead theme, which was a little too omnipresent for some. Here are the two big announcements Universal made about this year's Halloween Horror Nights scarezones in Orlando.

1. Separate scare zones are back

Instead of having one unifying theme for all of the scare zones, Universal is returning to its roots in 2014 with separate scare zones, each with their own unique theme, props and scareactors. Though we didn’t get a number of total scare zones that will be included at this year’s event, it was at least confirmed that the single theme approach (which was met with mixed reviews last year) is dead and buried, at least for 2014.

2. The first scare zone will be based on the reality show Face/Off

For those who have never heard of it, the show Face/Off is a special effects makeup competition on the Syfy channel that challenges contestants to create fantastic creatures using prosthetic makeup. Over the years, the show has featured some truly horrifying characters, and Universal is looking to tap into that vein of the show and will feature scareactors made up to look like memorable creations from the show. The Face/Off scare zone will be located in the Hollywood section of the park and feature ten different characters in five different themed areas. Check out the reveal video below for more information.

Are you excited for the return to separate scare zones? Is the Face/Off theme something you’re looking forward to seeing?

im glad you guys are switching it up this year we have been the last 10 yrs with each year getting worse i swore we would not go again after last years lack luster HHN, we took some family from out of town and non of us were very pleased with the festivities, not to mention the costs associated with such a trip, very disappointing, but being an optimist i think we'll give it one more shot, we love the both parks and frequent them at least 4-5 times a year, so you have your work cut out for you UNIVERSAL
