Ratatouille: The Ride, the highly-anticipated new dark ride at Walt Disney Studios, Paris, is rumored to be set to open to guests for the first time in June 2014.
The latest whisperings circulating on the Disney Central Plaza forums suggest that the ride will "soft open" to guests on June 28. This would not be an official opening date - instead, as is usual with a soft opening, the ride could close at any point due to technical issues.
The official opening date is currently said to be scheduled for July 14, which is Bastille Day in France. Recent construction photographs show that there is still work to be done on the Paris-themed area surrounding the ride, suggesting that an opening window any earlier than June is perhaps unlikely.
Ratatouille: L'Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy (to give it its full French name) and the surrounding Paris-themed area, dubbed La Place de Rémy, are both inspired by Pixar's 2007 animated movie.
The ride will begin in Gusteau's restaurant, before taking riders on a wild chase through key scenes from the movie. Disney claims that it has invented a completely new ride system for the attraction, which will feature 6-seater "Ratmobiles". In reality, it will be similar to the trackless systems employed by Pooh's Hunny Hunt at Tokyo Disneyland and Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland, allowing for full 360 degree rotation of the cars.
Riders will pass through the restaurant's kitchen, dining room and walls, whilst being chased by the mischievous Chef Skinner. They'll also take to the rooftops above Paris.
