It's a relatively quiet news day in the theme park world, so we thought we'd pause and take a look at progress on two of the most exciting new attractions that are due to debut in 2014: Disney's Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley. Both are now rapidly approaching completion and are looking visually stunning.
We'll start with the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the unique new roller coaster at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The final details are now being added to the ride's theming, and testing of the trains (with their unusual, swinging carriages) has been ongoing for months. The latest rumors suggest an official opening date in May, with a soft opening in late March or April.

Universal Orlando, meanwhile, has taken the wraps of its new Harry Potter area in more than one way during the last two weeks. It revealed a host of details of the land and its two major attractions (the Hogwarts Express and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts) in a webcast. It also uncovered the impressive-looking facades on the London Embankment area facing Universal Studios Florida's lagoon, and you can get a great look at them in the video below (courtesy of All Around Orlando):
