The Hogwarts Express attraction at the Universal Orlando Resort has been caught on camera undergoing testing for the first time.
Linking the existing Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure with the under-construction Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, the Hogwarts Express will recreate the journey taken by Potter and his friends at the start and finish of every year at Hogwarts. It will actually travel through a backstage area between the two parks, but multimedia technology will be used to convince guests that they are journeying between London and Hogsmeade.
The trains have been on the tracks for some weeks, and now Universal has begun testing them in action - albeit at a very slow pace. You can see one of the trains crawling along in the video below, courtesy of Orlando Attractions Magazine:
The train in the video appears to have a Hogwarts Castle sign on it, suggesting that it was geared up to travel between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. The attraction will have two trains, which will pass each other on a split track section midway through the circuit. The train from Islands of Adventure to Universal Studios Florida will travel backwards.
