Tokyo Disneyland will revamp its classic Jungle Cruise attraction in a $16 million facelift, with the updated ride set to reopen by autumn 2014.
The Jungle Cruise opened alongside Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, and is very similar to the original ride at California's Disneyland. It sees guests travel the rivers of the world as they embark on a cruise past animatronic animals, lost explorers, and through a collapsing ancient temple.
For the first time on any Disney Jungle Cruise attraction, a specially-written musical soundtrack will be heard throughout the ride. However, the comical commentary from Jungle Cruise "skippers" will remain. New lighting effects and other special show effects will also form part of the refurbished boat ride, while the park will also offer a special after-dark "night cruise".
The existing Jungle Cruise ride will close on January 6, 2014.
