Universal Studios Japan's Resident Evil-themed survival horror experience will debut at the park on July 19, 2013.
Hosted in the park's Palace Theater, the BioHazard Live attraction (named after the Japanese version of the videogame franchise) will see guests being equipped with a replica handgun. Armed with a limited supply of bullets, they will tasked with blasting their way past zombies and other monsters.
Each gun will be equipped with an "infection gauge", with guests being challenged to reach their destination without becoming fully infected. The park has warned that the chances of surviving the game without becoming infected are "virtually zero percent".
BioHazard Live will be open daily until September 9, 2013. It will then operate from Friday to Monday and on select holidays from September 12 through November 10.
Universal Studios Japan has previously hosted Resident Evil-themed attractions as part of its Halloween Horror Nights events, although without the interactivity on offer in BioHazard Live.
As in the video games, hordes of undead zombies terrorized guests in the Halloween Horror Nights attractions, with the mazes occupying the Gramercy Park area and the Terminator 2: 3-D building.
