The latest rumor about the potential new Star Wars Land suggests that it will be on a very large scale, although conflicting reports suggest something much less ambitious.
Richard Bilbao of the Orlando Business Journal claims that the land will "dwarf" other recent Disney expansions, which presumably includes Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. A version of Cars Land is also on its way to the Florida park, according to a recent report from Theme Park Insider's Robert Niles
However, some reports suggest that the Star Wars Land will be somewhat less ambitious. If these claims are accurate, the Jedi Training Academy will be moved indoors into the ABC Sound Studio building, while the Backlot Express restaurant will be converted into a new Star Wars-inspired ride aimed at younger children who are unable to ride the existing Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.
It is not yet clear which of the rumors is accurate, although it could well be the case that Disney is still considering its options regarding an expanded Star Wars prescence at Disney's Hollywood Studios following its $4 billion acquisition of LucasFilm last October.
Along with the slated Avatar Land at Disney's Animal Kingdom, though, it does appear that Disney is at last readying a major spending spree for Walt Disney World. The resort faces intense competition for Florida vacationers' time from rival Universal Orlando, which is set to open the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley in 2014.
