The Universal Orlando Resort will offer Despicable Me-themed rooms at its Loews Portifino Bay Hotel from fall 2013, with reservations available for stays starting October 1, 2013.
All of the 18 kids' suites at the hotel will be converted to the new theme, complete with missile-shaped beds as seen in the Despicable Me movies and comical Minions dangling from the ceiling. The rooms will tie in with the Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem attraction at Universal Studios Florida, which replaced Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast in July 2012.
The high-end Loews Portofino Bay Hotel is located within walking distance of both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. It was the first hotel to open at the Universal Orlando Resort, and is designed to resemble an Italian fishing village. Loews Hotels operates the hotel on Universal's behalf.
Guests at the Portofino Bay Hotel receive a number of major perks, including early entry to both theme parks and unlimited Universal Express queue-jumping passes.
