Members of the public have been to experience Transformers: The Ride - 3D at Universal Studios Florida for the first time, after the park began a "soft opening" period on May 30, 2013.
The ride is not due to officially open until June 20, but as is usually the case with major attractions Universal is aiming to iron out any issues ahead of time by running "technical rehearsals". The first of these saw Transformers: The Ride - 3D being opened to guests from 7-9pm last night.
Inside the Magic was on hand to capture the video below, as well as a huge number of photos. The video shows the attraction's queue and the ride experience itself - so a SPOILER WARNING is appropriate.
In addition to soft opening the ride, Universal also installed an enormous model of Autobot leader Optimus Prime above Transformers: The Ride - 3D's entrance. The 28-foot-tall robot is designed to interact with guests, inviting them to join the battle against the Decepticons.
Transformers: The Ride - 3D is a clone of the existing attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore. The ride employs a very similar system to the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman attraction at neighboring Islands of Adventure.
The new addition has been constructed at a rapid pace since work started in summer 2012, with Universal hoping to maintain its recent attendance gains ahead of the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida in 2014.
As with the Michael Bay-directed movies it is based upon (and the earlier toys and cartoons), the attraction features robots that "transform" into cars, planes, tanks and other vehicles. Riders are placed into the middle of a pitched battle between the human-friendly Autobots and the evil Decepticons.
