One of the residents of SeaWorld Orlando's Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin made a break for freedom during the attraction's opening weekend.
Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin combines an innovative dark ride with a major new penguin exhibit. Evidently, one of the penguins fancied joining guests on the other side of the barriers that separate them from the exhibit, and was able to hop over it. It was swiftly recaptured by SeaWorld staff and returned to its enclosure, as can be seen in the video footage below.
The dark ride is being billed by SeaWorld Orlando as "the world's coldest theme park ride". It uses a trackless ride system that enables it to offer a different experience very time, with 8-person vehicles carrying guests on their journey to "Antarctica". There, they come face-to-face with gentoo, rockhopper, adelie and king penguins
We recently listed SeaWorld Orlando's new ride as the most exciting new theme park attraction due to open in 2013.
