Pleasurewood Hills has set the opening date for its new horror-themed attraction, Hobs Pit, as Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Built at a cost of over half a million pounds, Hobs Pit will feature both walkthrough and dark ride sections. It has been created in conjunction with special effects expert Rob Ostir and voice actor Corey Burton, who have previously been involved with several Disney productions. It will take guests on a tour of an abandoned mine, which is predictably populated by some less-than-friendly creatures.
In a canned statement, Pleasurewood Hills' General Manager Alexis Camelin said of the park's new addition: "This ride is unique to the UK, it’s the first dark ride to combine a walkthrough and seated scare experience with lots to scream about along the journey through an old mine shaft. The big question is, will you escape Hobs Pit?"
Pleasurewood Hills has already opened two of its four new attractions for the 2012 season, Woody's Tea Party (a classic spinning teacup ride) and Moby Dick (a family-friendly flat ride). The Pleasurewood Paddlers pedalo boats will debut on the park's lake later in the season.
