Transformers: The Ride - 3D artwork

In a major publicity stunt, the Decepticons have invaded Downtown Orlando as Universal Orlando prepares to announce the opening date for Transformers: The Ride - 3D.

An 80-foot silhouette of one of the enormous robots currently adorns the Fairwinds Credit Union building, while Universal has also released video footage of the "attack", embedded below. The opening date for the new addition to Universal Studios Florida is set to be announced on Thursday, May 2, 2013, with the ride having being put together at a rapid pace.

Transformers: The Ride - 3D is a clone of the existing attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore. The ride employs a very similar system to the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman attraction at neighboring Islands of Adventure.

As with the Michael Bay-directed movies it is based upon (and the earlier toys and cartoons), the attraction features robots that "transform" into cars, planes, tanks and other vehicles. Riders are placed into the middle of a pitched battle between the human-friendly Autobots and the evil Decepticons.
