Disney's Hollywood Studios will celebrate "Star Wars Day" on May 4, 2013 with a host of special Star Wars-themed entertainment and events.
Part of Disney's ongoing "Limited Time Magic" promotion, the Star Wars Day will see characters from the movies making appearances on Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, riding along with guests. The Jedi Training Academy wil be expanded to allow parents to join their children on-stage, while special commemorative merchandise will be on offer. A Star Wars-themed fireworks display will round off the day following an after-dark dance party.
The event will be separate from the annual Star Wars Weekends events, which will return to Disney's Hollywood Studios from May 7 - June 9, 2013. These will feature parades, shows, autograph sessions and sales of "one-of-a-kind" Star Wars memorabilia.
Disney acquired Star Wars creator LucasFilm in October 2012, promising to reinvogorate the franchise. Rumors have since circulated that the company will look to exploit the brand further through its theme park division.
