Theme park news round-up - April 26, 2013

BoardWalk Bakery

Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort are planning a host of "Monstrous Summer" events to tie-in with the release of Pixar's Monsters University, including a 24-hour Memorial Day weekend party on May 24. Meanwhile, Disney has also offered up a behind-the-scenes glimpse at work on the Magic Kingdom's Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster, and the deadline for the prospective operator of Kentucky Kingdom to secure rescue funds has been extended.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort

Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and both theme parks at the Disneyland Resort will open for 24 hours on May 24, 2013, to celebrate the start of a "Monstrous Summer".

Disney's Magic Kingdom

The Kentucky State Fair Board has granted the prospective operator of the shuttered Kentucky Kingdom a 60-day extension to a deadline for securing private funding to reopen the theme park.
