Mystic Manor, the highly-anticipated new dark ride at Hong Kong Disneyland, is set to open officially on May 17, 2013.
The ride, which offers a modern twist on the classic Haunted Mansion concept, will anchor the Mystic Point expansion. The area will open for preview days for the media on May 7, 10 and 11, with the grand opening taking place on May 17. Its debut will mark the completion of an ambitious expansion programme that has seen three new lands added to Hong Kong Disneyland's line-up.
While Mystic Manor will be similar in style to the Haunted Mansion rides at other Disney Parks, it will utilise a version of the "trackless" ride system pioneered by Pooh's Hunny Hunt at Tokyo Disneyland. The "Mystic Magneto-Electric Carriages" will provide every rider with a front-row experience, with the cars being controlled by a wireless local positioning system.
The attraction's plot will revolve around Lord Henry Mystic, the owner of Mystic Point. He has collected a variety of antiquities in Mystic Manor, with a newly-acquired music box playing a central role.
Terruce Wang, the park's Vice President of Sales and Distribution Marketing revealed that the park is planning a major marketing push for Mystic Point. He said: "This unique themed land has inspired the resort’s sales and distribution marketing team to put imagination into action in showcasing Mystic Point’s story, attractions and the new products to our travel trade partners. By the end of April we will be at full gear to kick off a series of trade launch events across Asia, inviting the travel trade communities to a truly mysterious journey and introducing new business opportunities that Mystic Point will bring."
