World Showcase at Epcot

Since Disney's $4 billion acquisition of Lucasfilm, fans have been looking out for any sign that the company plans to add new Star Wars-themed attractions to its theme parks around the world. Disneyland has stoked the rumour mill by issuing a survey asking whether guests would be interested in visiting a Star Wars land, although there's no sign of any concrete plans as yet. Meanwhile, Knott's Berry Farm has moved closer to reopening the shuttered WindSeeker, while Alton Towers has been hit by the cold weather that is currently affecting the UK.


An online survey conduct by Disney has asked fans whether they would be interested in visiting a Star Wars land at the Disneyland Resort.

Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has begun issuing plastic cards to Annual Passholders in place of their existing paper passes, paving the way for the introduction of the MyMagic+ system.

Epcot and Disney California Adventure

Disney's latest "Limited Time Magic" promotion involves an Easter egg hunt at Epcot, with dozens of oversized eggs having been hidden through the World Showcase area at Epcot and at Disney California Adventure. Unusually, the firm is charging guests extra to take part in the hunt, with a fee of $4.95 buying them a map and a set of stickers. It will run through March 24, 2013.

Knott's Berry Farm

Knott's Berry Farm has installed a new evacuation system on its out-of-action WindSeeker spinning tower ride, with other Cedar Fair parks expected to follow suit.

Alton Towers has been forced to keep its gates closed on Friday, March 22, 2013 after heavy snow fell on the Staffordshire theme park.

The South China Morning Post takes a detailed look at the innovative trackless ride system that will be emplpyed by Mystic Manor, Hong Kong Disneyland's soon-to-open take on the Haunted Mansion.

Meanwhile, the park is reported to be considering increasing its ticket prices for the first time in 2 years, by as much as 10 percent. This would help pay for the enormous cost of its expansion, which has seen 3 new lands added to its line-up.
