LEGOLAND Windsor is planning a major overhaul of its Duplo Land area in 2013, with the park planning to install a small water park and a new themed play area.
Plans submitted to Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead show that the existing Mole in One Mini Golf, Waterworks and Duplo Playtown attractions will be removed as part of the changes. They will be replaced by a large water "fortress", a "Splash Zoo" water play area and a Duplo-themed town known as Duploville Playland.
The Duplo Splash Zoo will be similar to the existing attraction at sister park LEGOLAND California's water park. Aimed at LEGOLAND Windsor's youngest guests (aged 1-3), it will house fountains, spray pads and interactive DUPLO animals.
The fortress, referred to as both "Duplo Water Fortress" and "Rain Fortress" in the plans, will also be an interactive, water park-style play area. In addition to several water slides, it will also include an enormous tipping bucket that will dump gallons of water onto kids below.
Duploville Playland, meanwhile, will be a dry land attraction. It will feature a number of mock properties, including the "Caveman House", the castle, a garage, a builder's house, a travelling circus, a police station and the "Clowns Cake Shop". Each of these will feature interactive elements, while benches will be dotted around the area so that parents can sit and keep an eye on their children.
The existing Duplo Theatre, Duplo Train and Cuddles Corner attractions will be retained in the updated Duplo Land, along with the popular Fairytale Brook boat ride. The Duplo Theatre will be doubled in size in order to increase its capacity.
Full details of the plans can be found in a downloadable PDF document on the council's website.
