SeaWorld San Diego has confirmed that its Cirque de la Mer show will be performed for the last time on August 12, 2012.

The park made the announcement via its official Facebook page, revealing in the process that a new show will be installed on the same site in summer 2013. The nature of Cirque de la Mer's replacement and a concrete opening date are yet to be announced.

Cirque de la Mer is a circus-style show accompanied by music, which sees a variety of acrobats and other performers tell the story of an underwater world. It has been in place at SeaWorld San Diego's Lagoon Stadium for 12 years.

The new show is expected to be the major addition to the park for 2013. SeaWorld San Diego installed a new roller coaster, Manta, for the 2012 season.
