The Disneyland Resort is running a trial of a new ticket purchasing system, which enables guests to buy admission to its theme parks via their mobile phone.
At present, visitors to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure can buy 1-Day, 1-Park and 1-Day Park Hopper tickets via their phones. These can be purchased by opening Disneyland's mobile website (at m.disneyland.com), and entering the required credit card information. Guests then receive a confirmation with a barcode that is scanned at the parks' gates to enable entry.
During the initial trial, guests will still receive a paper ticket when they enter the parks. This will enable them to return later on should they exit during the day, or to enter the other park if they have purchased a Park Hopper ticket.
Disney has run a number of experiments at its theme parks recently aimed at speeding up the entrance process, including a trial of RFID "contactless" technology at Walt Disney World's Epcot.
