Snow White's Scary Adventures closes at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Snow White's Scary Adventures

Snow White's Scary Adventures, one of the original attractions at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, has closed to make way for a new meet-and-greet area.

The dark ride, which retells the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was shut down for good on May 31, 2012. It will be replaced by the Princess Fairytale Hall, which will host a number of Disney princesses. The new attraction will form part of an expanded Fantasyland area that is due to be completed in early 2014.

Orlando Attractions Magazine was on hand to capture the final ride on Snow White's Scary Adventures on video:

Snow White's Scary Adventures opened in 1971 alongside the rest of the Magic Kingdom. Criticised by many parents for being too intense for younger children, it received a major overhaul in 1994 that removed many of the scarier elements. Very similar versions of the ride can still be found at Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland.

The final element of the expanded Fantasyland to open will be a new Snow White-themed attraction, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster.
