Universal Studios Hollywood hosted a star-studded ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new attraction for the 2012 season, Transformers: The Ride - 3D.

Legendary director Steven Spielberg was in attendance as the new dark ride made its official debut, having been open for several weeks as part of a "soft opening" period. Also on-hand were life-sized models of Transformers heros Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, who play starring roles in the ride itself.

Inside the Magic's Ricky Brigante was on hand to capture the grand opening event on camera, in the video embedded below:

Inspired by the movie trilogy directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: The Ride - 3D places guests at the center of a battle between the evil Decepticons and the human-friendly Autobots. A near-identical version of the attraction has already opened at Universal Studios Singapore.
