The first riders have experienced the updated Mr Freeze: Reverse Blast roller coaster at Six Flags St Louis, ahead of the ride's official debut on May 5, 2012.
St Louis Cardinal and World Series MVP David Freese was among the first thrill-seekers to board Mr Freeze: Reverse Blast, which is a revamped version of the existing Mr Freeze ride. The direction of the coaster's trains has been reversed, with riders now being launched from 0 to 70 miles per hour in a backwards direction.
The official video footage below shows Mr Freeze: Reverse Blast in action:
Describing the experience, Freese said: "I have been coming to Six Flags since I was a kid and the roller coasters have always been my favorite. I was really excited to ride Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast. The backwards launch and experience of going up the tower facing straight down is a real rush.”
Mr Freeze: Reverse Blast's circuit incorporates a series of inversions and turns, with guests eventually returning to the station in the opposite direction. A near-identical version of the ride is due to open at Six Flags Over Texas on May 12.
