SeaWorld Orlando has opened its new TurtleTrek attraction, which offers guests an immersive 3-D look at the lifetime of a turtle.
TurtleTrek has replaced the former Manatee Rescue attraction, and opens officially on April 27. A series of "soft openings" have taken place over the last few days, enabling guests to get their first look at the new addition. As well as the 3-D movie, a pre-show area hosts manatee and sea turtle tanks, while educational, interactive games are on offer in the exit area.
Orlando Attractions Magazine was on hand to capture a video of the TurtleTrek experience on April 25, which is embedded below:
A total of 34 projectors are used to produce the 360-degree 3-D images that surround guests in TurtleTrek's central dome. The movie itself is based on Turtle: The Incredible Journey, a documentary which was produced for theaters by SeaWorld Pictures in 2011.
TurtleTrek is one of a number of additions coming to SeaWorld Orlando, which is seeking to maintain a recent boost in attendance. Earlier this week, the park released further details of Antarctica - Empire of the Penguin, a new multi-million dollar dark ride that it is billing as "the coldest theme park attraction in the world".
