Disney has released two new videos showing off virtual and real-world footage of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, which will open at Disney California Adventure on June 15, 2012.
The first video, embedded below, shows Walt Disney Imagineers taking a virtual tour of the Cars Land expansion using the company's Digital Immersive Showroom ("The Dish"). This is used to help the designers of new attractions identify issues prior to actual construction taking place.
Anchored by $200 million E-Ticket attraction Radiator Springs Racers, Cars Land marks the final phase of a $1.1 billion series of upgrades to Disney California Adventure. The expansion will be home to two other rides, along with a number of dining outlets and retail stores. These will be arranged along a recreation of Route 66, as seen in Pixar's Cars movies.
The second video released by Disney shows artists working on the colorful murals that will be on display in Buena Vista Street, the new entrance area that will replace the former Sunshine Plaza. These are designed to evoke the Spanish-influenced architecture of 1920s Los Angeles, upon which Buena Vista Street is based.
Buena Vista Street will be designed to evoke Los Angeles as Walt Disney Would have found it when he first moved to the city. Named after the Burbank street upon which the animator's original studios are located, the area will replace Sunshine Plaza as the entranceway to Disney California Adventure.
