Alton Towers reverses opening hour cuts for 2012 season

Alton Towers mansion

Alton Towers has increased its planning opening hours during off-peak days in the 2012 season, following criticism from fans of planned cuts.

Fan site Towers Times reports that the park will restore its standard 5pm closing time during many dates early in the season, although it will still close at 4pm during select dates in September and October. There has been no change to the planned reduction in summer opening hours, with the park still due to close at 6pm during August, rather than 7pm as in 2011.

On busy days, Alton Towers has been known to extend opening hours at short notice and this could also be the case during the 2012 season. The park's scheduled hours are listed on its website.

The longest operating hours at Alton Towers come during the October half-term week, when the park runs its annual Scarefest Halloween events. The park remains open until 9pm throughout the celebrations.
