Busch Gardens Tampa plans first-ever Christmas Town event in 2012

Busch Gardens Tampa is planned to introduce a separately-ticketed Christmas event in 2012, following in footsteps of sister park Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

The Virginia park has run a special Christmas Town event for the last 3 years, drawing in large crowds to see its European-themed areas adorned with holiday decorations. The Christmas event is a less obvious fit with Busch Garden Tampa's African theme, but The Tampa Bay Times reports that it will become the first Florida property to attempt a whole-park holiday overlay.

The Florida version of Christmas Town will be designed to emulate the success of Howl-O-Scream, Busch Garden Tampa's popular Halloween events. The report claims that pricing will be around the $78 mark, which is similar to the the park's standard admission price of $79.99.

The Christmas Town events are set to take place over a 12-day period. They will face heavy competition from other Florida theme parks, including the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party celebrations at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
