Walt Disney World has confirmed that the first elements of the new Storybook Circus area in the Magic Kingdom's expanded Fantasyland will open in late March 2012.

Previously, Disney had only stated that the area would open to the public in "early 2012". It has now been more specific, revealing that one of two Dumbo the Flying Elephant rides will debut by the end of March, along with the updated Barnstormer starring The Great Goofini roller coaster and the Fantasyland Station of the Walt Disney World Railroad.

In January, Disney began testing of the second Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, which is being installed in Storybook Circus to increase capacity. The original version of the Dumbo attraction will be relocated to a site next to it, but will not be operational when Storybook Circus makes its debut. Disney is doubling-up the attraction in order to reduce its infamously long queues, and will also add an interactive queue hosted inside a circus tent to keep waiting riders entertained.

Alongside the Dumbo attractions, Storybook Circus will also feature an updated version of the existing Barnstormer rollercoaster. Renamed as Barnstormer - Hosted by the Great Goofini, it will receive a new theme based on stunt planes. It will also be home to Casey Jr Roundhouse, a small water play area that will be located next to the Fantasyland Train Station.

Disney has also confirmed that the Snow White's Scary Adventure dark ride will close permanently on May 31, 2012. It is being removed in order to make room for a new meet-and-greet experience. A new Snow White-themed attraction, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster, is expected to open in late 2013 elsewhere in Fantasyland.
