Kings Dominion WindSeeker constrction

Kings Dominion has begun to install the first pieces of WindSeeker, the new spinning tower ride that will open at the park in spring 2012.

WindSeeker will stand some 301-feet-tall, with a significant number of tower sections remaining to be installed. The ride will be a variation on the classic "Chair-O-Plane" concept, with guests swinging in circles around a central tower at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Kings Dominion is spending $6.5 million on its installation.

WindSeeker will be identical to its namesake rides at a number of other Cedar Fair parks, all of which opened in 2011. Theme Park Tourist featured full reviews of the rides at Kings Island and Cedar Point during the 2011 season.

As with other WindSeeker rides, Kings Dominion's version will feature an elaborate LED lighting array that will bringing it to life in the evenings. Riders will be able to take in views of the the park and its surroundings as they swing at a 45 degree angle.
