Chessington World of Adventures to open Madagascar show, safari experience in 2012

Chessington World of Adventures has submitted plans to open two new attractions for the 2012 season, including a "safari experience" and a live show based on the Madagascar movies.

The plans, submitted to Kingston Council, describe a "safari experience including themed vehicles" that will be hosted in the Wanyama Village & Reserve area of the park (Update: Safari Trail is now expected to open in 2013). They also refer to the Madagascar show, which will be housed in an updated African-themed land that will replace Toytown.

Little is known about the safari attraction at this stage, although it is likely to see guests taken on tours of the Wanyama Village area's mock savannah. Such a ride would be likely to have a limited capacity, and the relatively small size of the savannah means that a ride on the same scale as Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney's Animal Kingdom or Rhino Rally at Busch Gardens Tampa is unlikely to be on the cards.

The Madagascar Live show will feature a range of characters from the popular Dreamworks movie franchise. It will be the only show based on the films in Europe.
