Universal Studios Hollywood has released the latest teaser video for Transformers: The Ride - 3D, which will debut at the park in May 2012.
The video, embedded below, features General Morshower from the shadowy NEST organisation that plays a key role in the Transformers movies. It ends with the mysterious message that the "Game Begins February 4, 2012", suggesting that another part of Universal Studios Hollywood's viral campaign for the ride will kick off on that date.
The park recently revealed that Transformers - The Ride's official opening date would fall in May, although it is possible that "soft openings" could take place earlier. It has launched a preview site for the new addition at PrepareForBattle.com.
Transformers: The Ride - 3D will retain the look-and-feel of the Transformers movie trilogy. A version of the attraction has already opened at Universal Studios Singapore, with the Hollywood installation expected to be largely identical.
The ride will reuse technology from the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman attraction at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure, combining 3D animation, animatronics and flight-simulator elements. It will replace the closed Backdraft and Special Effects Soundstages attractions in the Universal Studios Hollywood's Lower Lot, with construction having begun in Fall 2009.
