A video has emerged online which purports to show a full rendering of the ride experience for Radiator Springs Racers, the headline attraction of the Cars Land expansion at Disney California Adventure.
The footage features Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty presenting a computer-generated ride-through of Radiator Springs Racers, and is consistent with previous reports of the ride's plot and layout. Rafferty warns his audience that the audio track and dialogue heard in the video are likely to change prior to the ride's spring 2012 debut, with the video having been recorded in October 2011.
The full video is embedded below. Please note that it features plot spoilers for Radiator Springs Racers:
Radiator Springs Racers will use the same ride system as Epcot's Test Track, which launches riders in mock cars at speeds of close to 65mph. While the video appears to show the new ride topping out at 35 miles per hour, this could be the result of an error or a deliberate slow-down of the run-through.
The attraction will take guests on a journey through the fictional Radiator Springs town from Pixar's Cars movies. The elaborate theming is expected to include extensive rockwork, which will be used to recreate the desert location of the town.
Anchored by the $200 million Radiator Springs Racers, Cars Land marks the final phase of a $1.1 billion series of upgrades to Disney California Adventure. The 12-acre addition will feature two other new rides - Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Flying Tires. It will also be home to two new dining locations (Fillmore's Taste In and Flo's V8 Café) and two retail outlets (Ramone's House of Body Art and Sarge's Surplus Hut).
