Warner Bros Movie World on Australia's Gold Coast has opened its new Green Lantern Coaster, which features the steepest drop of any roller coaster in the Southern Hemisphere.
Green Lantern Coaster, an S&S El Loco model, made its debut at the park on December 15, 2011. It hits a top speed of 41 miles per hour during its 1601-feet circuit, with the trains plunging down a 120-degree first drop. Opened at a cost of $10 million, it includes two inversions and subjects riders to forces of up to 3.5G.

Green Lantern Coaster is the third rollercoaster in the world to be based on the 2011 movie starring Ryan Gosling and the comic books that preceded it. Earlier this year, Six Flags Magic Mountain opened an Intamic Zacspin dubbed Green Lantern: First Flight, while Six Flags Great Adventure debuted a rethemed stand-up rollercoaster known simply as Green Lantern.
The new ride is similar to Mumbo Jumbo at Flamingo Land in the UK, although it features updated trains that can hold up to eight riders.
