LEGOLAND Windsor has announced that, come 2012, a new Star Wars area will be added to the park’s Miniland lineup.
Miniland - the signature part of each LEGOLAND park - is comprised of recreation scenes of famous skylines and structures brought to life by LEGO bricks. The new Star Wars Miniland will be divided into seven distinct scenes – one for each of the franchise’s feature films and one for the animated “Star Wars: Clone Wars” spin-off.
Comprised of 1.5 million LEGO bricks formed into 2,000 models in a 1:20 scale, Star Wars Miniland will recreate famous planets, environments, characters, and vehicles from the Star Wars mythos. Visitors will progress through the movie scenes chronologically, and special effects are set to include sound, lighting, and interactive elements.
A Star Wars Miniland opened in summer 2011 at LEGOLAND California. However, the area at LEGOLAND Windsor will be located indoors, providing a more theatrical and immersive setting for the intricate figures. Appropriately, the attraction will be housed in the building that was formerly home to the Rocket Racers attraction, which closed in October 2011.
Star Wars Miniland is expected to open at LEGOLAND Windsor in March 2012.
