Alton Towers to give away 250 tickets to Facebook fans

Nemesis: What Lies Beneath? poster

Alton Towers is running a competition on its official Facebook page, offering fans the chance to win one of 250 free tickets for the 2012 season.

In order to be entered into the prize draw, fans must "like" the Alton Towers Facebook page. The competition is set to open on Monday, December 12, 2011. The park is promising that the winners will be among the first to experience its new ride for 2012, Nemesis: What Lies Beneath.

The new attraction will be located in the Forbidden Valley area, next to the existing Nemesis roller coaster. It is widely expected to be based around a miniature drop tower, and to take guests into underground "catacombs" to meet the Nemesis alien itself.

In addition to Nemesis: What Lies Beneath, Alton Towers will also open Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – The 4-D Experience next year. Based on the third animated movie in the popular Ice Age series, the new addition will open in March. It will feature updated footage from the film, which is being converted into a 4-D format by SimEx-Iwerks. It will be the centrepiece of a new Ice Age-themed area, which will also host a shop selling branded merchandise.
