Newly-opened LEGOLAND Florida has become the latest theme park to launch its own mobile application, which is now available for iPhone and Android devices.
The free app can be downloaded via the iPhone App Store or the Android Market. Similar to offerings from other parks, it features an interactive map, details of rides and shows, and key information such as park opening times.
Other features of the LEGOLAND Florida app include the ability to buy tickets, access discounts and special offers, mark the location of a car in the parking lot and check the latest weather forecast. Guests can also view the latest updates on the park's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.
LEGOLAND Florida is aiming to tap into the recent trend for using "augmented reality", a technique which enables information to overlaid onto real-world images. In the case of the park's app, guests can navigate to attractions by pointing their device's camera at an area of the park. Attraction names then hover on top of the video.
The latest LEGOLAND park made its debut on October 15, 2011. Located on the site of the closed Cypress Gardens theme park, it is home to more than 50 attractions aimed at families with children aged 2-12.
