Dollywood is to host the inaugural Light the Way charity walk and run on November 18, 2011, offering guests the chance to jog through its extensive Christmas decorations.

The event will take place over a 5km course that will wind its way around the theme park, and is designed to raise money for the Share It Forward (SIF) programe. SIF is a non-profit organization that was established by Dollywood to provide aid to its employees at times of need. The park matches staff donations to the program dollar-for-dollar.

Participants in Light the Way will be able to take in views of four million lights, which will be used to decorate the park for its Smoky Mountain Christmas festival. Prizes of hand-blown glass Christmas ornaments will be on offer to the top three finishers in each age group.

Registration for the event will cost $25 until October 31, or $30 on the day. Entries can be made online via RaceIt.com, or between 9:30-10:30pm at Dollywood's front gate on race day. The race itself will begin at 11pm.
