SeaWorld Orlando is reportedly planning a major expansion throughout 2012 and 2013, which will see a number of new attractions opened at the park.
The Orlando Sentinel features details of the unconfirmed plans, which includes the addition of an Antarctica-themed ride and a movie based around sea turtles. Discovery Cove, the premium water park situated next to SeaWorld Orlando, would also receive a number of upgrades.
Details of at least one attraction are already widely known, thanks to reports on Screamscape. The Manatee Rescue attraction will receive an update to its existing theater, enabling it to host a 4D movie about sea turtles. The film is expected to an edited-down version of Turtle: The Incredible Journey, a documentary which was produced for theaters by SeaWorld Pictures in 2011.
The park is also expected to redevelop its existing penguin exhibit, replacing it with an upgraded penguin habitat as well as the rumored dark ride. Few details are known of the ride itself, although work is expected to begin on clearing the site in early 2012.
