Universal Studios Singapore's Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure to remain closed until early 2012

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure logo

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure at Universal Studios Singapore is to remain closed until early 2012, with the attraction currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment.

The water ride has been closed since August 10, 2011, with no official confirmation of a specific opening date having been provided as yet. Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure has proven to be one of the most popular rides at Universal Studios Singapore, which opened to the public in March 2010.

The attraction is a new take on the dinosaur-themed attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Japan. Rather than riding in large, uni-directional rafts as in the previous versions, guest instead board traditional circular "rapids" boats, which can rotate freely throughout the ride.

Like the US-based rides, Jurassic Park River Adventure sees guests being terrorized by escaped dinosaurs. It features a similar storyline, with riders being diverted into a hydroelectric power station before a Tyrannosaurus Rex attacks them. However, due to the different ride system used it features a range of all-new set pieces.
