Time-lapse video shows progress on Fantasyland expansion at Disney's Magic Kingdom

Fantasyland expansion concept art

Walt Disney World has released a new video that shows off progress on the construction of the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland expansion.

The time-lapse video, posted to the Disney Parks Blog and embedded below, shows several new attractions and restaurants beginning to emerge from the initially bare construction site. This includes the Beast's Castle, which will house the Be Our Guest Restaurant, the surrounding Beauty and the Beast-themed area (on the left) and the show building for Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid (on the right).

Not visible in the video is the site of Storybook Circus, a new area that will house side-by-side Dumbo the Flying Elephant rides, along with the rebranded Barnstormer - hosted by the Great Goofini rollercoaster, Fantasyland Train Station and Casey Jr train ride.

The Magic Kingdom's expanded Fantasyland is due to open in phases by 2013. In addition to the Little Mermaid ride, its other major attraction will be The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train rollercoaster, which is set to be one of the last elements to be completed.
