Video: LEGOLAND Florida shows off Miniland USA ahead of October 15, 2011 debut

Grand Central station in Miniland USA

LEGOLAND Florida has continued the build-up to its opening day on October 15, 2011, by showing journalists around its Miniland USA area.

Miniland USA is home to LEGO reproductions of famous landmarks including Las Vegas, New York City and Washington D.C. Florida icons such as the Kennedy Space Center and the Daytona Speedway are also recreated in minute detail. The area will be one of the major attractions at LEGOLAND Florida, which will feature more than 50 rides and shows spread across 10 themed lands.

Orlando Attractions Magazine was on hand to capture the event, producing the video embedded below as well as a range of photos.

LEGOLAND Florida is located in Winter Haven on the site of the closed Cypress Gardens park, which was purchased by Merlin Entertainments Group for $22.3 million in January 2010. Several areas and attractions from the Cypress Gardens park will become part of LEGOLAND Florida, although all will be extensively rethemed and updated to suit the park's target audience of families with 2-12 year-old children.

You can find details of the lands that will make up the new park in Theme Park Tourist's recent overview over LEGOLAND Florida's attractions.
