Universal Studios Singapore has announced that it will host a dedicated Halloween event for the first time in 2011, importing the format from Universal's US parks.

The Halloween Horror Nights events will run from October 21-23 and 27-30, 2011, from 9pm to midnight each night. As at the US versions of the events, tickets will be sold separately from daytime admission to the park. Priced at $60, these will be available from the Universal Studios Singapore website. Discounts will be available for groups and guests at Resorts World Sentosa hotels.

Having run at Universal Studios Orlando and Univeral Studios Hollywood for more than two decades, the format for Halloween Horror Nights is well established. It sees temporary haunted house and scare zone attractions being added to Universal's parks, which are often based around classic horror movies.

At Universal Studios Singapore, at least one haunted house and multiple scare zones will be featured, while major rides such as the Battlestar Galactica rollercoasters will operate late into the evening. A character previously seen in other Halloween Horror Nights events, the Director, will preside over proceedings. A "sadistic filmmaker", he will greet guests as they prepare for their "final cut".

Themes for the scare zones will include a "midway of mayhem", a post-apocalyptic metropolis and an area populated by carriers of a flesh-eating plague. A haunted house will be located inside of one the park's soundstages, with guests entering a run-down Peranakan mansion that is haunted by a demented matriarch.
