Universal Studios Singapore has released a teaser video for its planned Transformers dark ride, confirming that it will open to the public in December 2011.

The park has also revealed that the full name for the new attraction will be Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle. The ride will retain the look-and-feel of the Transformers movie trilogy upon which it is based, and will reuse technology from the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman attraction at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure.

A similar attraction will open at Universal Studios Hollywood in spring 2012, and the teaser video for the Singapore version closely matches that released by the US park earlier this year. Embedded below, it features footage of well-known characters from the Transformers movies, including Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. It also shows a new character, EVAC, who will "transform" into the riders' vehicle.

The plot of Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle will be a "natural follow-up" to the films, rather than based on them directly. Riders will be placed into the middle of the movies' war between the human-friendly Autobots and their Decepticon enemies. As in the films (and the earlier toys and cartoons), the robots will "transform" into cars, planes, tanks and other vehicles.

Universal Studios Singapore says that the ride will last for approximately 4 minutes, promising that it will incorporate scenes in subway tunnels, city streets and rooftops.

The park has launched a new blog, which will offer updates on the progress of construction on Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle.
