Dollywood has begun a series of special summer events which see the theme park remaining open until late, giving guests the chance to experience its most popular rides in the dark.
The Dollywood Nights events will run from August 8-14, 2011, with the park closing at 10pm each evening. The majority of the park's rides operate during the extended hours, including rollercoasters Thunderhead and Mystery Mine. A special $25 plus tax admission ticket is offered during the events, which enables guests to visit the park between 5pm and 10pm.
Dollywood's Vice President and General Manager Craig Ross said of the Dollywood Nights events: "Last year’s response to Dollywood Nights was great, so it’s back by popular demand this season. Dollywood Nights and those last few evenings before the start of school really offer families quality time together to enjoy the final, lazy dog days - and nights - of summer at Dollywood.”
A number of festivals are due to be held at Dollywood throughout the remainder of 2011. These include Barbeque & Bluegrass (which runs from August 19 - September 5), the National Southern Gospel and Harvest Celebration (September 28 - October 28) and Smoky Mountain Christmas (November 5 - December 30).
